knock

As I mentioned, there was another surprise in Sunday’s service: the pastor didn’t preach.

He read a scripture from Mark 16 and explained that we’re required as Christians to go out and preach the gospel…..and he had been led to do just that…. on Sunday.

As a group (visitors, members, new-converts, and all) we were directed to split off into groups of two or three and visit homes in the surrounding neighborhood, pray, share the gospel, and  leave flyers, announcing the upcoming event, “Night of Terror,” scheduled for October 30th and 31st.

I sat in my seat, amazed. Not only did I take time out of my time to visit and hear a ‘word,’ but about twenty other visitors came as well.  Didn’t the pastor think someone within the church needed to hear an inspired word? Didn’t he think people should be trained before going out to pray and share the gospel? Shouldn’t we at least review the sinners prayers and the corresponding scriptures? Shouldn’t this be voluntary?

These were a few of my thoughts as respectfully removed myself from the service.

I doubt I’ll return, but I was happy to be back in church, so I’ll visit another this coming Sunday.

Any thoughts?

I thought Halloween was pagan?
Oh wait was this a Halloween celebration?

Nikks Says:

Um, how very Jehovah’s Witness of pastor. Is this Jehovah’s Witness religion? Just wondering. I’ve never really heard of other religions going door to door.

Danielle Says:

@Nikks: No, it wasn’t a Kingdom Hall. It was a church, but I’m not sure of the denomination. I think it’s non-denominational.

@Goddess: It’s my understanding that their Nights of Terror was meant to reach the unsaved and bring them to Christ by “Scaring the Hell Out of Them.” These are their words not mine…….lol
